LOFT THREE PHOTOGRAPHY.

Notice things looking a little different around here? You did? I’m impressed. And you are probably another photog or designer

because most everyone doesn’t pay attention to anything but the images. So good eye!

Biggest news is that we dropped the “design” out of our name and are now loft3 photography. Ages ago Adam would design on

the side, but now we ain’t got time for dat. Old emails should still forward but we’ve had many issues with that recently so please

change my email in your records! [email protected]

I feel like the day Adam designed our old logo 9 yrs ago, he immediately began the process of designing a new one. The joys of

having a graphic designer for a husband. He is never completely happy and always thinks he can do better. Thing is, it always

looks wonderful to me so it drives me batty when I see him delete a document he spent weeks working on. So each winter he

started a quest to redesign our logo. Then we’d be busy again and he’d stop. We changed the website a couple times here and

there but never started on a clean slate. Finally, last winter he committed to our logo and then it was time to revamp the rest of

the business. Blog makeover, packaging, switching to USB delivery instead of dvd, redesign of paperwork. So much work. Best

part? Adam DID IT ALL! Mainly I forced it all on him because I know that he will never love anything I do and whatever I design

takes me 458hours longer because I don’t know software or technology like he does. Frankly, I’m 100% ok with doing all the

shooting and editing if he takes care of all the behind the scenes BS. Everyone needs an “Adam” because he can solve any of my

99 problems a day over a simple text.

So we’ve had a number of “disagreements” on this. He wanted to keep the site clean and simple. Shades of gray.

Pretty, but SO NOT ME. It’s not on brand. People would be confused. I told him if he was making me keep the logo in gray, it’ll be

in color on packaging and color will be splashed around the site. (This is where the phrase, “which one of us has a degree in

Graphic Design?” would be thrown in to end the disagreement. And then I’d huff away saying, “fine, I know you’ll do what you

want anyway, so why do you ask?” And also why this has been a project 2 yrs in the making. )

He made me happy by splashing this in color on the rotating banner heading the blog. 🙂 Thanks honey.

Speaking of “on brand.” Our friend, Will Haas, asked to shoot us for his portrait series of people who inspire him. This actually

worked out perfectly for our site. Thanks Will! (I often look like a walking box of Crayola markers.)

The site features galleries differently now. You have the option to see a bunch of random session images in one gallery or you can

see a whole session at once as if it’s on the blog. You have the option to view as thumbnails or you can select the little gray

rectangles on the left and view just the same as a blog entry.

We joined the new age and are delivering USB’s to clients now. This was a big pill for me to swallow because it’s expensive.

So we had to raise sessions fees in order to cover extra expenses and tax. And see, I won on the color 😀

Still a work in progress on our packaging, but you get the idea. The USB spins open. So clever. Our business cards are still in

production but will be supa cool. Think embossing and painted edges. Those only took Adam about 5months to be happy with. :0

So happy this is finally live. Now he can go back to helping me with dishes and wrangling kids at night. So everyone stop what you

are doing and give Adam a virtual round of applause for all his beautiful hard work. God love him. You’re the best!

REMEMBER: My email is no longer @loft3pd.com. Now it’s [email protected]

Go head over to the portfolio end and have a look around. And if you don’t feel like it, tell Adam you did anyway and that you just

loooooved all that he’s done. :-*

Heart, Melanie & Adam.
