The thing that sold me on going back to Italy, instead of a country I’ve never been to, was Cinque Terre. “The Five Lands.” Adam showed me an image of one of the colorful villages on the hill and I was sold. We took a tour from Florence for the day. A miserable 3 hr bus ride with no lavatory to the first village where I about peed my pants standing up to unload the bus. Apologies to the line of people I pushed out of the way to use the port-a-potty on the top of the hill.
Funny story. It doesn’t rain in Cinque Terre. They told us, maybe one or two days a year. Guess what? That day in early October was the first day that year. SIGH. I’ll tell you what though, the few little shops who kept a barrel of umbrellas and ponchos in the back of their closet sized shop, made BANK that day!
At least the overcast skies did help in the accurate exposure of the whole scene!
Some people hike from village to village. That would have been fun if I wasn’t carrying a load in my stomach. If you look closely in the middle, far left, you can see the rail tracks. There was a train that can take you village to village if you don’t walk or take a ferry.
The rain made the water very choppy and when you’re on a two tiered boat…how do you type that sound you make when you’re going to throw up?
Crazy. I don’t really grasp how it was all built! We were told they have lost whole towns or part of them in the past when rain came for longer than they’re used to.
By the 3rd town of walking up a giant hill to get to the “view” I was super tired. I sat out most of that town, but Adam wouldn’t let me skip this view.
You can see tired all over my pregnant face. And you can see “Energizer Bunny” all over his. But isn’t that beautiful and amazing?
When the tourists come, it brings all the grandmas to the windows.
Gah. So miserable. We were so soaked even with the $40 umbrellas we bought.
But you can’t keep this guy away from a beach.
Our last stop was Geneva! That place was full of beautiful vineyards. Quite a few we shot in!
We took a trip to Annecy, France for one of our sessions too. Gorgeous.
After one of our sessions, Adam grabbed a few prego shots of me. Dude, I was 21 wks. TWENTY ONE. Women look this big the day they deliver. I’m so not to the point of “missing the belly” just yet.
That concludes our European trip blogging. 🙂 Only took me almost 6 mths to do so. Have a great weekend!
