this has been the most talked about 1st bday party of the year. this past weekend it finally happened, olivia had her big Fancy Nancy party! fancy nancy is a character in a
series of books where the little girl uses her imagination and finds herself in places like paris!
ali found this banner on etsy a long time ago, and built her vision for the party around it. since she was so weak and mostly in the hospital the last couple months,
a handful of friends and my family stepped up and created this fabulous party for miss olivia. as you might know, ali is entirely too crafty, creative and a perfectionist
when it comes to any sort of decorating and details, so it was a bit nerve wracking decorating for a party that would live up to her standards! she approved everything
along the way, but we were all very thrilled with the result!adorable embroidered hot pants and bib sewn by andrea!
uncle adam was a bit excited about all this too. he surprised ali with all these posters and a handcut out and mounted fancy nancy for the entry. if you would
have seen the 3in book image he had to reconstruct and photoshop to create a 4 FOOT nancy, you’d be impressed! nancy even talks fancy, but she’s always sure to put it in layman’s terms for her readers!
nonni (my mom) spent entirely too much time making/designing these awesome topiaries…like til 4am! (clearly i didn’t fall far from the tree). how awesome are they?? well done nonni.
ali’s friends thought of everything. her friend sarah made these little wands for each child! BIG HIT!!
hey westsiders. need a cake? know the johnson family? carrie (johnson) bushman (who you can see with her adorable family here) has become this fantastic cake maker!
her and her friend sommer are now the “cake moms” who do an amazing job. isn’t this just perfect??? I LOVE IT CARRIE! thanks!!
the nunery’s lookin’ mighty fancy!
how beautiful are they!
a few of the little gals…who loved every minute of dressing up.
our 93yr old nanaw 🙂
on to the main event, and outfit #2!
she did pretty awesome. though olivia will eat anything, and generally doesn’t stop eating til you cut her off. at every bday party
ali gets the kids to “wash their hair” with icing. olivia wouldn’t do that for me, so i had her answer the phone instead. it’s only fair, right? 🙂
on to outfit #3!
nori is obsessed with pictures. it was cute at first, but now she throws a tantrum when we don’t let her have our iphones to flip through pics and take her own videos.
she was standing behind me trying to also take olivia’s picture. i swear, we aren’t instigating this at all! she even tries to use our mark II’s at home! 🙁
where’s poppi? oh wait, i didn’t see you there, you blended so well. lol. clever.
mia tortilla slept pretty much the entire party.
my parents must have this invisible magnet that draws kids to them. always. doesn’t matter if the kids know them or not. so cute.
ben’s bro and sis inlaw. cutest little family ever. they actually came up early so they could help ali and ben get ready without ali wasting a ton of energy. lindsey
did ali’s hair and makeup and it looked so stunning. i know it made ali feel so much better that day lookin’ so hot mama!some more of ben’s family!
i grabbed a few images of some other people that cracked me up in their attire. it’s important for adults to follow theme too!! don’t be offended if i didn’t post your pic.
lots of people dressed up, but let’s be honest, i’m not trying to make this blog 3 pages long! 😉
here’s SOME of the gals who have gone above and beyond the call of friendship. our family can’t thank you girls enough for how much you’ve done for ali over the last 8mths.
from cooking meals, CLEANING, to babysitting, this party, and even spending multiple nights in the hospital to relieve ben. everyone needs friends like you guys, you are just too sweet.
by 4 o’clock the party was done, as was the bday girl. 🙂
i just find it so amazing that from the looks of her, you’d have zero clue how sick she is inside. it’s crazy to me and i’m sure for those who don’t see her at her lows, they
can’t even believe the mess that’s inside her right now. i’m so thankful that ali looks so great, because whenever i get those awful phonecalls, i just need to go be with her. and
when i see her, just the look of her often reassures me, she’s going to be ok. it’s the strangest thing really. you’re beautiful.i love you sis. i can’t wait to see what you have in store for olivia’s second birthday!!
heart, melanie
