And now for something completely different!
We did a lot of things quite differently this yr. Not important things, like starting this whole process before December is more than half over, I’d love to have that opportunity! For starters, no picture!?! Thats a huge first. Secondly, we decided to cut back this year after years of questioning why we spend an absurd amount of money on this. It’s every bit of a $500 expense in a typical year, finding the design and addressing time not included. The fact we can’t get to it til so late, we miss all the sales and have to expedite shipping huuurts, on top of the cost being nearly $2 a card this year. *gag* SO we made a tough choice to eliminate a couple hundred cards by only sending to immediate family and those who’ve sent us one. I’m sure y’all understand! Please accept this digital card on Christmas Day instead of opening it the mail… the day after! Hahahaha.
We planned to do cut paper, design inspired by the stop motion Elf musical movie. I liked the colors and the scene but we wanted it to be waaaay more simple. We’ve always talked about this because when Nori was little, her friends would call her Nor-whal! It was fun to take a break from the Macs and pick up paper and scissors!
It always becomes an all hands on deck creation!
We wanted to keep the figures simple, almost like Russian stacking dolls. But according to the kids, Adam accidentally made us into South Park characters. HAHA! To get the shadows, I used foam to separate the layers making the finished piece about an inch or so thick to hang in a shadowbox frame!
Every year for Halloween and Christmas, I frame the previous years card/costume image as decoration around the house. This will actually be the framed artwork this year! RERRY CHMISTMAS EVERYBODY!
Hope y’all have a Merry Christmas! Heart, The Pace Circus.
