Lots of coast driving. Some days it was so foggy that we couldn’t see further than 100yards while other days it was so clear and breathtaking!
Our hostel was on a marina, which was cool because there was zero visibility when we went to sleep. When we woke, it was raining but we could
at least see all the cool old ships!
Out on the land you either saw sheep/rams or emo horses. Adam was determined to capture these crazy haired guys.
So “Game of Thrones,” isn’t it?
We took our “car portrait” for memories of what got us up and over all the unpaved rough terrain. All of our stuff fit nicely in the hatch. We tried
to pack super light but it was hard since we had the wedding and tourist festivities the first few days. We had two large back packs full of lenses
and cameras. We still managed to share one suitcase and then a weekender held our hiking shoes, tripod and all the snacks. I was concerned I
would die of hunger while driving amongst the mountains town to town. We packed Whirlybird Granola (hey, Christy, hey!), a box of cliff bars,
couple large peanut M&Ms because duh, candy fix, other various nuts and large water bottles to fill in the hostel sinks each morning. Most
mornings we were able to find a town grocery or gas station to grab a yogurt, bananas and a premade sandwich that we just kept in the car till we
were ready to eat lunch. Once to the new town at night (anywhere from 7-11p) we’d find a restaurant. Those meals were always amazing.
Aqua glacier water.
Adam may or may not have been electrocuted trying to get these pictures of the dramatic Icelandic horses. :0 They were very calm and not
bothered by us. I assume they’re so used to tourists pulling over to get their portraits, even though we read multiple things telling us to never
just pull over for a picture unless there was a turn off. But c’mon now, look at them!
Rain plus mist, I was was thankful Adam last minute bought us ponchos to keep us and our cameras dry while we hiked.
Rasta ram. They were such posers. They never broke eye contact, even when they were chewing. Hysterical.
Sometimes while driving, we’d see super random things like a bolted down chair on a boulder.
Obvs, I’m gonna make a tree.
That’s Adam, Jim and Jess out there.
Anywhere there were rocks, there was rock stacking.
Fairy houses. I was hoping to see more of these than we did. So adorable!
When your match is on an ocean cliff.
Happy Monday, y’all! Heart, Melanie & Adam.
