The Speeds.

Each year these crazies have me/us out to the farm to capture whats new and amazing out there and for us to learn an incredible amount of things about animals and farm life. This yr was TURKEYS Y’all!!

Also! They have a farm stand now out in Loveland/Maineville! Jo Blue is a combo of these beautiful girls middle names! 😍

Turns out, I don’t know anything about turkeys, other than they taste real good on a sandwich or with some gravy.😬 🤣 They’re legit like dogs. Domesticated, follow you around, need to be by your side, affectionate, curious little big creatures. So much so, that see in the background on the right, those ledges? Danny had to build the turkeys those stands so they could WATCH EVERY MOVE OF THEIR FAMILY THROUGH THE WINDOW!! 😆😭Full on, “whatcha guys doing in there without us??” So the point is, keeping them out of my frame was often impossible because they just were constantly around! Hysterical.

I mean, look at that ugly face but yet SO COOL AND PRETTY?!?! The face colors change too! The blues and purples become more vibrant. The red in its wattle comes and goes. It’s all so fascinating! And you better believe we were shouting GOBBLEGOBBLE at them and they yelled it right back at us. Like screaming goats, the simple joy that gives me is unmatched!😆

Their never ending supply of chickens roaming the joint produce such a spectrum of eggs that are all delicious!

😍😍

Those things are nearly as big as the girls!! You’d think the turkeys hated being picked up, but they come right back for more love!

Every and all things are teamwork! The girls are expected to do any of the labor the adults do. That’s setting them up for some major successes in their adult lives!

Hello stunning little ladies!

Hot mama!!

Love that windblown hair!

Looks like a whale floating over their house!

Lots of traditions we do each yr!

Each year I think, this may be the last year for the wheel pic and then those tiny hinies manage to fit again!

Soon after this, Nico and Nori got a lesson in turkey mating. 😬😆 Nico said, “MOM WHAT ARE THEY DOING?” Nori replied, “ummm she’ll tell you later.” Me “They’re mating! Making some baby turkeys for us to enjoy at Thanksgiving!🤣” Nori “MOOOMSTOOOOP!!”

They’re so stinkin pretty!!!!

Sometimes kids legs just decide to stop working!😆

I can’t believe you’re still holding Stella! She loves it too!!

Glad that sun showed up to backlight those changing trees for me!😍

They also now have guinea fowls! They leave these fantastically designed feathers all over!

Gardening season is mostly winding down!

Random vegetation and eggs just laying around. 😍 #farmlife

Ruby fetching a ride on one of the goats to go collect the evenings eggs and give the chickens their snack!

Seriously, someone always has an animal in their arms around there! Here is your basic leghorn chicken! I didn’t get to play much with the goats, as they’re usually the ones on top of us, but they stayed in the fences! Little buddy still watched our every move!

Whenever I daydream and romanticize the idea of having our own chickens, I remember my time spent at the Speeds and the incredibly amount of energy and work they spend to get their fresh eggs. They just make it seem so easy but shoot, the behind the scenes is zzzzzzz.

All your JoBlue swag is so fun!

Finished collecting eggs, then to tend to the inside coop with the new chicks! Cool feather hat, dude!

My kids love holding the animals but are too hesitant to swoop them up.

A storm rolled in super fast and it was pitch black almost instantly. Danny just went to town making us an unexpected DELICIOUS dinner of ribs and BBQ pizza on their wood burning grill!!

I truly look forward to this session every yr. I LOVE how much you teach the kids and I. I love how stress free and relaxed the session is! And the bonus of taking home fresh eggs, pickles and often more…it just makes me feel so loved and appreciated! I’m so glad you came into my life 9(?) yrs ago! Y’all are such genuine good hearted, loving people. Thanks for being you!! 💞 Heart, Melanie
